Life is good

Camila is the sweetest friend imaginable. She gets me out every day hiking, she has a high level of social skills so I never have to worry about her meeting other dogs. Plus she's very good with meeting all people except for jumping up which I'm working on.

Camila the Star Student

Sorry but the video won't play. After just four days she: comes when called, does touch, sits and...has learned fetch! It's hard to believe that just a few months ago she was a stray in Mexico, likely just trying to survive.  Her vet appointment is October 9th when I'll hopefully get a better idea of her age because it's nearly impossible to believe that she's just 10 months old! BTW, she seems to have already had puppies.

Camila's Bad Memories

Image
We're having our first nice rain today in weeks (no thunder) and Camila is terrified. The front door is open so she can go in whenever she wants but she's attempting to tough it out to be with me. I now see the frightened young street dog, unable to find shelter because bigger more aggressive dogs were claiming the space. She would have been left out cold and wet.  When I/we  went back inside the stench was really strong but there was no urine anywhere. I guess this is how extreme fear smells.

Settling In

Relaxing on the front porch and lapping up a frozen Kong, yes I think I'll stay.

A Week Ago Yesterday Life Changed for the Better

Camila let it be known from day one that she was a front seat dog. All my preparations with Willow's big bed in the back, plus a raised cargo net - NOPE!
